    Tackling Unique Packaging: How to Automate Filling of Gourd-Shaped Glass Bottles

    {当前产品的产品关键词轮巡使用}
    In the world of automated packaging, we often encounter containers with unique shapes and special materials. Recently, a customer sent us a sample—a glass bottle shaped like a traditional Chinese gourd. This bottle presented several interesting challenges for our packaging equipment.

    Challenge 1: Arranging and Conveying the Gourd-Shaped Glass Bottles
    As shown in the video, the gourd-shaped bottle is asymmetrical, with a narrow waist and a non-centralized center of gravity. On a traditional automated production line, ensuring that such bottles are arranged and conveyed in an orderly manner while avoiding damage from collisions is a significant challenge. Unlike common cylindrical or square bottles, these are not easy to align and fix in place. Our packaging equipment required a special design to accurately grip and position them, ensuring each bottle moves safely and smoothly along the line.

    Challenge 2: Smooth Filling of Large-Diameter Pills
    In addition to the bottle's shape, the pills themselves posed another difficulty. They have a relatively large diameter, so much so that just two pills can almost block the bottle opening. This is a serious test for any automated filling process.

    Traditional filling equipment often uses vibration or rotation to pour materials into bottles. However, for these large pills, such methods can cause blockages, affecting production efficiency and even damaging the product. We had to develop a new filling solution to ensure the pills drop into the bottle one by one, continuously and accurately, preventing any accumulation or jamming at the opening.

    Challenge 3: Precise Pressing and Screwing of Inner and Outer Lids
    After filling, the packaging process isn't over. The bottle's cap is also unique, consisting of an inner stopper that needs to be pressed down and an outer cap that needs to be screwed on. This means the automated equipment must perform two separate actions: first, press the inner stopper into the bottle opening with precise force to ensure a secure seal; second, screw on the outer cap with the correct torque to complete the packaging beautifully. The sequence, force, and precision of these two steps are critical, as any error could lead to a packaging failure.

    Facing these complex problems, we dedicated significant R&D resources to design an innovative automated packaging solution. This system integrates a precise robotic arm, an intelligent vision system, and a custom-made filling module.

    Customized Bottle Conveying System: We designed a special conveyor track and clamps that guide the gourd-shaped bottles based on their unique shape, preventing them from tipping over or colliding with each other during transport.
    Precise Material Distribution Unit: To address the large-diameter pill challenge, we developed a unique material dispenser. It precisely controls the release of pills, allowing them to be filled one at a time or in small batches, completely solving the blockage issue.
    Dual-Action Sealing Mechanism: Our equipment incorporates two independent actuators—one for pressing the inner stopper and another for screwing on the outer cap. This ensures that every bottle is perfectly sealed and packaged.
    The Final Outcome
    After extensive testing and optimization, we successfully achieved fully automated packaging for this gourd-shaped glass bottle. The video showcases our solution in action, demonstrating its efficiency and stability. The final packaged product is aesthetically pleasing and meets all the customer's requirements for both beauty and functionality.

    This project reinforces our belief that in the world of packaging automation, there are no "unpackageable" products, only "challenges that require innovation." We are always ready to take on any unique packaging needs and help your products achieve their most perfect presentation.
